First July Update

So it’s over a month since our last post, things have been crazy this side pushing to get the re-fit complete. All going well with no unforeseen delays we should be complete by the end of July.

July Update…

The beginning of this month was a rather special occasion as Grand Challenge moved to her new berthing at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town. Below is a image of her laying on her new berth.

Our interior is coming along nicely with most of the wood stripped down to bare, this work should be completed along with our new galley in the next week. Once complete we’ll be ready for our TV debut!

So now that you know where we are why not pop down and see us during the week or on the weekend, we’ll be more than happy to offer you a peak into the organized chaos that goes along with the re-fit.

Latest Update!

We’ve been really quiet the past week or two, so much has been happening with the re-fit of Grand Challenge. We have installed new our new battery charger/inverter system and it’s working great.

Sanding has begun on the back deck and the bare teak is looking fantastic. The new electronics have arrived from our supplier and will be collected tomorrow. Installation will take approximately 3 days, we’ll be sure to post some pictures as soon as it’s all commissioned.

The new deck wash down has been piped in and will be connected tomorrow, so far everything has been moving along smoothly and we should make our deadline for completion.

We’ll be adding some images as soon as possible.

Mid-Week Update…

So much has been happening at Marine Charters since our flagship vessel “Grand Challenge” returned to the water. We’ve had loads of enquiries regarding our off shore trips, our vessel “Broadbill” is ready to take you on your deep sea adventure at the drop of a hat. Her image is below:

We have secured a berth for “Grand Challenge” in a great location, more information will follow once we have officially moved her. We will be starting early next week with the replacing of the window frames and the re-painting of the super structure. More updates and pictures will follow after this weekend!

Back on the water!

So tomorrow sees Grand Challenge re-launched back into the water. The hull has been polished and a fresh coat of blue anti-fouling paint applied. The hard work begins from next week with the interior being attended too.

As soon as we have some images from the slipway tomorrow we will be sure to post them up here!

So far all operations are running according to schedule and we should have her ship shape and ready for you by the end of May!

Progress Report 13-4-09

Hope you are all having a good Easter Weekend and enjoying the extra day’s off! The past few days we’ve been hard at work down on the slip way.

Tuesday this week sees the painting of the hull with the new blue anti-fouling, our fiberglass expert will be down tomorrow repairing the nasty little nicks and scratches on the hull and give it a nice polish :D

On Thursday we will be returning to the water where the hard work really starts. The interior artisans will start with the new flooring, upholstery, carpets, heads (toilets), galley (kitchen) and the installation of our new state of the art nav system.

We have about 6 weeks to go before the re-fit of Grand Challenge is completed, I’ll be posting more images during this week of the progress.

Our other vessel Broadbill is currently available for offshore and inshore fishing charters. She can be used for Sunset Cruises and our Hout Bay special at a reduced rate.
